Exercises for Women to Lose Belly Fat Fast

Belly fat is associated with heart disease, diabetes and other life-threatening illnesses. As women age their waists thicken, so it can be extremely tough for older women to lose excess belly fat. While spot reducing isn’t possible, if you combine a healthy diet with the right combination of cardio and abdominal exercises, you can lose belly fat quickly.

Pelvic Tilts

Pelvic tilts are a simple workout that’s good for women in every stage of their lives. Pelvic tilts work the hard-to-reach lower abdominal muscles. Lie on the floor with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. Slide your hands under your lower back. As you exhale pull your pelvis toward your lower back and hold for a few seconds. Inhale and return to the starting position. It is a very small motion, so focus on moving your pelvis and not your hips or butt. Repeat for 10 to 15 reps.

Running

Running is a good workout to lose belly fat fast and tighten the abs at the same time. Running works the abdominals in the same way as a crunch workout. Your abs contract as you run as your core stabilizes your body. You can burn more than 800 calories in an hour-long running workout. Try interval training with your running to burn more calories and increase the fat-burning potential of your workout.

Power Walking

Power walking is a simple yet effective exercise that almost anyone can do. An hour-long power-walking workout burns 500 calories. Your core stabilizes your body as you’re walking. Keep your abs in tight as you walk and use your arms to increase the intensity of the workout. Add sprints or hills to your walking workout for added variety and intensity. If you’re walking on a treadmill, increase the incline to have a similar effect.

Swimming

Swimming is a total-body workout that’s good for women trying to lose belly fat and is easier on the joints than many other cardio exercises. The buoyant nature of water keeps the body from making any hard impact. Since swimming requires the use of all your major muscle groups you get a more complete workout and burn more calories in the process. An hour-long swimming workout can burn upwards of 700 calories.
